Nobody's Kid Brother Classic Early Valiant
The Plymouth Valiant burst on to the U.S. (and Australian) car scene in 1960. This car was released into the brand new "compact" segment. This awesome Mopar offering had its main rivals in the Ford Falcon and Chevy Corvair. "Nobody's Kid Brother" was the slogan used in its advertising in the U.S.
In Australia they were known as the "R Series", followed by the "S Series" Chrysler Valiant. With its standard 225 cubic inch slant six engine producing 145 HP, it was much more powerful than its rivals in Ford Falcon (95 HP), and the Holden FB (76 HP).
The Valiant nameplate lived on in Australia and New Zealand until 1981, when new owners Mitsubishi Motors shuttered the brand in Australasia.
